Music United '08 is the Roots Music Association's first annual Radio Seminar, Industry Conference, Awards Show and Music Festival to be held June 27-29. The Music Festival portion of this event will not only have an appeal to the music industry but also to the general public who will come out to relax and enjoy the music from these talented musicians. The Music Festival portion of this event will showcase more than 100 multi-genre acts from across the US and around the world in a highly professional performance atmosphere that will give these performers a chance to show their talents to all those in attendance. These performances will include, but not be limited to, Country, Western, Blue Grass, Blues, Jazz, Roots Rock, Zydeco, Tejano/Latin, World, Reggae, Western Swing, Roots/Americana Country and Roots Gospel genres.
The conference portion will encompass not only informational panels that will address the technological, academic and business aspects of the music business that independent artists must utilize to be successful, but also serve as a reflection of the traditions and history of the music that has shaped the
music business and community as we know it today. There will also be a technology portion of this panel-styled presentation that deals with all of the new technology for recording and performance that are available to an artist today. All of this, coupled with live performances by performers and meet and greet opportunities with radio station personalities from around the world as well as independent record labels, will make this annual conclave a very valuable experience for manufacturers, musicians, engineers, performers and radio personalities alike.
The awards portion will also recognize those that have striven to enable independent artists to be heard throughout the world, utilizing cutting edge technology while embracing the traditional values of the pioneers of roots based music.
This event will be a charitable function to provide support for ongoing Roots Music Associations educational programs.

The directors of RMA hereby notify all members that the venue and date for Music United ‘08 Radio Conference and Music Festival has been changed.
We had been planning for months to hold the event at the Shrine Convention Center in San Antonio. Excitement about the event in the music and radio communities was reaching very high levels, and we were (and still are) receiving hundreds of inquiries from performers and other possible attendees from all over the world.
All of the bands that applied for showcases are still submitted for the new date and venue. If you have already received confirmation to perform you will be first considered for the new date and time. All monies submitted to the RMA for registration will be applied to the new Conference date, or will be refunded upon request.
The board of directors of the Roots Music Association regrets having to reschedule the event, and we particularly regret any inconvenience to our members, performers, radio industry folks, and the many others who responded positively to the event. We will do everything in our power to bring this wonderful event concept to life later this year, and we hope you will continue your support of our organization.
